Bola Ogun, the director of the popular Netflix series The Witcher, has finally shared her outlook on Henry Cavill’s last scene as the Geralt of Rivia in Season 3 Volume 2. Ogun is the mastermind behind giving Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia an epic final scene and the goodbye that fans deserve, as she was the one who directed the last two episodes of the series.

In an interview with Polygon, Ogun explained the scene in detail as well as what her plans were before starting the episodes’ direction. She said, "The way that it was written and the way they designed it -- because so much is changing already, so much is going down in the season, it almost felt like it was a nice chapter closing on its own."

The director further stated that The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 was supposed to be “a little more emotional” in order to convey “the feeling of something changing.” Ogun further explained that she was only trying her best to develop a continuation that could also feel different, making it seem like it was a long but soft goodbye.

Cavill’s departure from the show was announced back in October 2022 and has been getting a lot of attention since then. The actor has attracted fans with his exceptional knowledge of Andrzej Sapkowski's original Witcher novels as well as short stories.

Anya Chalotra, the actress who plays Yennefer of Vengerberg, shared how the cast relied on Cavill knowing the source material of The Witcher, calling it “a blessing.” The actress shared, "[T]here are days when you might disbelieve the world a little bit more than the next. And he's there to go, 'Hang on, we've got this.'"

On the other hand, The Witcher star is also not worried about Cavill’s exit as the Geralt of Rivia, and she doesn’t think it would set the show back. Chalotra also believes that Liam Hemsworth, who’s stepping in as the new Geralt of Rivia, will be equally great at being the Geralt. She claimed that she wasn’t worried and that Hemsworth was going to be “brilliant.”

The British actress further shared that even though Henry Cavill was “incredible,” the idea of a new leading man becoming a part of The Witcher’s cast is “so exciting.” Tomek Baginski also shares the same excitement for Hemsworth’s arrival as Chalotra since he recently teased fans that he has a "very, very good plan” to introduce the Australian actor into The Witcher Season 4. Baginski stated that there will be a brand-new Geralt who will give a new face to the character of Geralt of Rivia, which would be pretty exciting to see. We can't wait to see how the story of The Witcher turns out following Henry Cavill's exit as the Geralt of Rivia.

The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
