Netflix is taking viewers back to the universe of The Witcher with a brand new animated film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, and the violent official trailer has been released this morning. The epic fantasy animated movie is scheduled to release on Netflix on February 11, 2025. In the trailer, you can see humans, monsters, and merpeople collide, and it promises some bloody battles. “People think I’ve gone soft on killing monsters,” Geralt growls in the video. “I’ll prove them wrong.”

Just like the previous Witcher movie, Nightmare of the Wolf, this film is being animated by Studio Mir, the same studio that animated The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Netflix also brought back voice actor Doug Cockle as Geralt, and the new character Essi Davis is voiced by Christina Wren.

The spinoff movie is directed by Kang Hei Chul and written by series scribes Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin. Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, who starred in The Witcher series, will also return to reprise their roles as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier for the animated film, respectively.

Jason F. Brown and Sean Daniel (Hivemend) are executive-producing the film, and Rae Benjamin is co-executive-producing. Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the original The Witcher novels, serves as a creative consultant on the project.

What is The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep about?

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is based on one of the Witcher's best short stories, A Little Sacrifice (from Sword of Destiny), which puts Geralt in an awkward position in the middle of a conflict between humans and merpeople, thanks to a complicated marriage proposal. A mysterious force is pushing both sides of the war, and it's up to Geralt, Jaskier, and their friend Essi to defeat it.

Netflix has shared an official synopsis for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep animated movie:

Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must count on friends — old and new — to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war.
