It looks like the wait for Liam Hemworth's debut as Geralt of Rivia just got a little longer. Production on The Witcher Season 4 has been delayed due to the writers' and actors' strike. It has also been suggested that will not begin filming until 2024.
We already know that Liam Hemsworth is taking over as the Butcher of Blaviken after Henry Cavill announced he is leaving The Witcher after the third season. Although the casting has been faced with skepticism, the Hunger Games star has thrown himself into preparing for the role and those who have seen him in costume are assuring fans that he will be great as Geralt of Rivia.
Now, it looks like Hemsworth will have more time to prepare for his debut. Redanian Intelligence reports that production on The Witcher Season 4 has been pushed back to an unknown date in 2024. This could mean that the series will not be returning on Netflix until 2025.
This is a truly shocking delay considering that The Witcher Season 4 was already scheduled to begin filming in September this year. Still, it's an unavoidable pushback in light of the WGA writers' strike and the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike. Sadly, this means we won't be seeing any set photos of Hemsworth's version of Geralt for at least two years.
Although the wait for the fourth season is a long one, it should give fans enough time to get used to the fact that Geralt will be played by a different actor. Nevertheless, we are hoping that there will be positive updates in the next few months. Make sure to check this page for the latest news on the show.
In the meantime, The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 will consist of three episodes including the final one featuring Cavill as Geralt. The second part of the third season premieres on Netflix on July 27, 2023.
