Eight years after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s release, The Witcher 4 is finally in the works. Codenamed Polaris, a new entry to the RPG series will soon come, and it's said to be special. However, there are questions about whether it will still involve Geralt of Rivia and whether he will still be the game’s main character. So, to answer these questions, Geralt’s longtime voice actor, Doug Cockle, weighs in on the issue and reveals his theory about his character’s future.

In an interview with IGN, Cockle cleared that he doesn’t know anything about CD Projekt Red’s plans for The Witcher 4, though he seems to have an idea of what may happen. This time, he believes the game series will move away from Geralt, and Ciri may take the spotlight as the main character of the fourth installment.

“Their focus for the game is not going to be Geralt,” he said. “They've said that, so I'm really excited to see what their focus is. I have ideas, but that's all they are.”

Cockle added that he had heard the fourth game would feature Ciri’s adventures in “some way, shape or form.” As one of the Cintra’s sole princess powers is to travel between dimensions and worlds in the books, fans may probably see this in the game, and it will be an exciting part of The Witcher 4.

Will Geralt return to The Witcher 4?

Now that CD Projekt Red is done with Cyberpunk 2077, with its DLC becoming a huge success, half of the company’s developers have reportedly transitioned to work on The Witcher 4. The game’s director, Sebastian Kalemba, revealed, via Gaming Bible, that the new game would be a “great entry point” for new players, hinting at Geralt’s return when he said the longtime fans could still follow the White Wolf’s adventures.

However, he also claimed that the fourth entry to the game series wouldn’t be released for several years, understanding that it had been long since The Witcher 3 came out. That said, their main target wouldn’t be just the loyal fans, who had been fond of the saga, but also new players, so they aimed to build a new community.
