With just one day until its highly anticipated premiere, Netflix's The Price of Confession has dropped a gripping preview that plunges viewers into a vortex of doubt and deception. Starring Jeon Do-yeon as a widow whose peculiar behavior in the aftermath of her husband's slaying draws intense scrutiny from authorities, the teaser amplifies the series' promise of psychological intrigue and moral ambiguity.
Directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan, Hellbound) and written by Kim Eun-hee (Signal, Kingdom), the eight-episode series follows Yun Su (Jeon Do-yeon), an ordinary housewife suddenly widowed, and the relentless prosecutor Baek Dong-hun (Park Hae-soo of Squid Game fame) who becomes obsessed with proving her guilt. Kim Go-eun co-stars as the enigmatic Mo Eun, nicknamed “the witch,” adding another layer of mystery.
The newly unveiled clip opens with Baek Dong-hun reviewing police interrogation footage of Yun Su. Detectives note that she’s acting strangely calm—almost detached—for someone whose husband has just been killed. As Baek examines crime-scene photos and the murder weapon, one image freezes him: Yun Su standing outside the house, smoking a cigarette with blood-smeared hands while her husband’s body is carried away on a stretcher.
In the present, Yun Su paces the empty interrogation room, presses her face against the one-way mirror, and pleads to go home because her young daughter is waiting. With no hard evidence, Baek reluctantly releases her. Yet as she leaves, Yun Su flashes a bright, cheerful smile and waves goodbye to the officers—an unnerving contrast that amuses and intrigues Baek. He immediately requests the case be transferred to him.
Jeon Do-yeon’s subtle shifts from fragile to suspiciously composed promise another career-defining performance, while Park Hae-soo’s cold determination sets up a tense cat-and-mouse game. The teaser’s muted colors, tight framing, and ominous score perfectly capture the drama’s suffocating atmosphere of doubt.
