The Mandalorian Star Takes on Surprising New Role in Ahsoka Episode 1

The first two episodes of Ahsoka have been truly exciting as they introduced a lot of familiar faces into live-action. However, there's one face you might not recognize despite being an accomplished Star Wars actor. The Mandalorian star Clancy Brown just made an appearance in the premiere episode of the show, and it's far from his first or even second rodeo.

In Ahsoka Episode 1, Sabine Wren was supposed to be joining a celebration honoring the Rebels' victory at the Battle of Lothal. However, when Governor Azadi introduces her, she is nowhere to be found. Azadi is put in an awkward situation as he tries to find her.

General Ryder Azadi has already shown up in Star War Rebels where he was voiced by veteran actor Clancy Brown. Amazingly, Brown reprised the role in the premiere episode of Ahsoka and his appearance proved to be very different from his previous role in The Mandalorian. Brown was unrecognizable as the Devaronian called Burg in the first season episode Chapter 6: The Prisoner. So it's great to see him playing yet another role in the Star Wars Universe.

Amazingly, General Azadi is the THIRD character played by Clancy Brown in the Star Wars Universe. His first role in the franchise was in Star Wars: The Clone Wars where he provided the voice of Savage Opress. Needless to say, Brown is the one actor who has proven to be an important one to the franchise.

Ahsoka also featured the debut of Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla. Both characters were introduced in Star Wars Rebels and their roles in the live-action series are sure to be important ones as Ahsoka Tano sets off on a mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn and, by extension, Ezra Bridger.
