Ahsoka is currently one of the most highly anticipated shows in Disney+ since it will introduce several animated Star Wars characters into the live-action universe. After all, it has already been teased that Ahsoka Tano would reunite with Sabine Wren several years after the events in Star Wars Rebels that left them on the search for Ezra Bridger.
But what can we expect in the reunion between Sabine and Ahsoka? Natasha Liu Bordizzo revealed that it's not going to be as happy as most fans are expecting, teasing that there's some "tension" that the two need to work out.
It has already been confirmed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play Sabine Wren in Ahsoka. In a new interview with SFX magazine, the Guns Akimbo star pointed out that although Sabine respects Ahsoka, there will be tense moments between them as they try to reconnect after several years (via GamesRadar).
"I think there's a deep level of respect that Sabine has for Ahsoka, as someone to learn from," Bordizzo said.
"In the show, they've been through a lot in the time that has passed, some of which we know about, some of which we don't," she added.
"Their quests kind of end up overlapping, bringing them back together, and there's tension and there's things they’ve been through that they need to work out. Their reunion's interesting!" Bordizzo concluded.
It certainly sounds like things are not going to be as easy as fans are hoping for. After all, the trailer for Ahsoka suggested that Sabine is still hoping to find Ezra while Ahsoka has been on a mission to track down Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The whole idea that Sabine and Ahsoka spent some time apart isn't new since we already saw what Ahsoka was up in The Mandalorian. What isn't explained is the reason why they had to part ways in the first place. Was there a misunderstanding between the two or did they choose to go their own way amicably?
We're still not sure what happened between Sabine and Ahsoka but it's going to be one of the things to discover in the new series. Needless to say, we can't wait for them to see each other again next month.
Ahsoka will consist of eight episodes and is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 23, 2023.
