The new preview for The Rings of Power Season 2 opens with Durin III issuing a staunch warning about the impending war in Middle-earth. The chaos erupts as a horde of orcs emerges from hiding, with Elrond caught in the midst of a great battle. Galadriel prepares to fight with her army, believing everything that has been happening is the work of Sauron.
Later, Halbrand transforms into Annatar and begins his attack. Gil-galad confesses to Elrond that their armies cannot defeat the enemy. As Galadriel confronts Celebrimbor, he is immobilized by tree veins. Durin plays with the rings as the forging process is about to commence. Annatar unleashes the Black Shadows to battle Galadriel and her group.
Elrond declares that Eregion must not fall, as it would be a fatal blow to all of Middle-earth. Subsequently, the orcs capture Galadriel. Adar warns that Sauron’s eye will soon bore a hole, through which the rest of him will slither. Annatar then confronts Celebrimbor, claiming he has given the peace he seeks.
“This is hardly a gift,” Celebrimbor responds.
When Celebrimbor asks Annatar who he truly is, Annatar reveals he is the one “keeping the storm at bay.” Galadriel is shown with Adar, who admits that Sauron is as much his enemy as he is hers and vows to help her destroy him. Galadriel then promises she will not stop until everything is set right.
Adar orders his orcs to kill everyone, igniting a great battle. Durin IV then declares that a great tale of their age is being written with the war happening. As Annatar speaks to someone off-screen, he is later seen holding Sauron’s crown and facing Galadriel in an intense confrontation.
