After seeing the best of Lee Jin-wook in the hit Netflix series Sweet Home Season 2, fans may finally see him gracing the big screen again. According to reports, the South Korean actor is now in talks to do a movie with Jeon Yeo-been (A Time Called You, Vincenzo with Song Joong-ki) and fellow Netflix star Song Hye-kyo, who's recently seen in The Glory.

In a report by Naver (as translated by Soompi), Jin-wook may join the cast of the new thriller movie with a tentative title of Dark Nuns—his first film after the 2018 High Society. The 42-year-old’s agency, BH Entertainment, even addressed the news, saying he’s now considering the offer to play the yet-to-be-revealed role.

“Lee Jin Wook is reviewing [the offer] to star in the film Dark Nuns positively,” the company's spokesperson said.

Aside from Jin-wook, Hye-kyo, and Yeo-been are said to be reviewing their respective offers positively and may play the roles of two dark nuns who perform an exorcism. If the Descendants of the Sun star accepts the new project, it will be the first time that she will be seen on the silver screen again after a decade. Her last film was the 2014 My Brilliant Life with the Peninsula actor Gang Dong-won.

Dark Nuns, directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae (The Troubleshooter, The Count), will be the female-focused retelling of the 2015 supernatural mystery thriller film The Priests, led by Kim Yun-suk and Dong-won. The film was a huge success at the South Korean box office, earning ₩13 billion or about $9 million on its opening weekend. It even won several awards, like Best Supporting Actress at the 25th Buil Film Awards and Best New Actress at the 52nd Baeksang Awards, among others.

Lee Jin-wook Talks About His Role in Sweet Home

Fans may best remember Jin-wook in the 2015 movie The Beauty Inside, but no one can forget his role as a calm but intimidating thug in Sweet Home. As this is the first time that viewers see him playing a character that he has never done before, the 42-year-old told The Korea Times that it was something that the audience couldn’t imagine he would portray.

“He has facial scars and is frightening to look at — not someone you would want to bump into,” he described his role as Pyeon Sang-wook, whose body was later possessed by the parasitic monster human Jung Ui-myeong, in Sweet Home.

Considering it as a new challenge, Jin-wook revealed he had received positive feedback for his great performance and even got pretty attached to the character. Hence, it’s a role that he may remember for a long time.

Netflix is now gearing up for the upcoming release of Sweet Home Season 3. That said, Jin-wook teased the new season would answer the many questions fans have, adding they might even end up wanting to watch the first and second seasons again.
