The conclusion of Ahsoka has laid the foundation for Thrawn's emergence as a prominent Star Wars antagonist, filling the void left by the Sith as a major threat between the original and sequel trilogies. But what is his strategy for taking down the New Republic? Speculations suggest that Thrawn is headed for Dathomir to create more Night Troopers. However, his mysterious cargo might be worse than an undead army of Stormtroopers.
One thing that Ahsoka established is that during his time on Peridea, Thrawn formed an alliance with the mysterious Great Mothers of the Nightsisters. These mystical witches are known for their formidable array of spells and supernatural abilities. While it's unclear whether their allegiance lies with Thrawn, both factions collaborated to escape Peridea and return to Dathomir. Thrawn's utmost priority was not to flee exile but to transport hundreds of coffin-like capsules from the Nightsisters' catacombs onto his ship before departing, signifying the significance of their contents in shaping the future of the Star Wars galaxy.

The exact nature of the capsules' contents remains shrouded in mystery, but one prevailing theory speculates that they contain the deceased Nightsisters. Given the Nightsisters' unique ability to reanimate the dead, it's plausible that Thrawn's ship is carrying an entire army of dormant Nightsisters, awaiting reawakening.
This is truly a terrifying idea considering that an army of resurrected Nightsisters provides a far more efficient path to securing victory than undead Stormtroopers. The revelation of the capsule contents promises to be a pivotal moment in the ongoing Star Wars narrative.
Who are the Nightsisters?
The Nightsisters, also recognized as the Witches of Dathomir or the Daughters of Dathomir, constituted a clan and a time-honored order of enchantresses, the majority of whom hailed from Dathomir, a world steeped in sinister energies. Residing on this planet, which was perpetually immersed in dark forces, these practitioners of the dark side harnessed their mystical arts by drawing power from the magical ichor that coursed from the planet's depths. Renowned for their formidable mastery over the Force, the Nightsisters possessed a unique array of abilities distinct from other Force-sensitive individuals, drawing upon incantations and spells to achieve their supernatural feats.

If Thrawn chooses to raise an undead army of Nightsisters, this wouldn't be the first time that it happened in the Star Wars universe. Prior to the extermination of the Nightsisters of Dathomir, an ancient Nightsister Old Daka utilized her powers to raise an army of the undead in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Needless to say, it was a grim and extraordinary response to combat the Separatists during the Clone Wars.
For now, it is unclear if Thrawn plans to resurrect some dead Nightsisters. However, it is a terrifying possibility in Ahsoka Season 2. The series has yet to be confirmed for a second season but the renewal is already in consideration. In the meantime, fans can rewatch all episodes of the first season on Disney+.
