It has been a while since Lucasfilm released a movie under their banner and with recent news confirming that there are some upcoming Star Wars films that are planned in the near future, questions on how the current Star Wars shows on Disney Plus would fit in the narrative. Much to the excitement of the fans of the franchise, the galaxy far, far away just confirmed that The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau will be having an upcoming movie titled The Mandalorian & Grogu which will feature what is next for the titular characters. However, where does that leave The Mandalorian Season 4? Well, the series is still happening alongside the upcoming film based on new reports.
The fans of the galaxy far, far away has something new to look forward to as StarWars.com officially confirms that Jon Favreau will be having his next film under the franchise and it will be titled The Mandalorian & Grogu, marking the jump of the two characters from the small screens to the theaters. The film is separate from the one that would be headed by Dave Filoni which is expected to be the crossover of the Disney Plus shows happening during The New Republic. This leaves the fate of The Mandalorian Season 4 questionable given that the next chapter of Din Djarin and Din Grogu could be encapsulated in the upcoming movie.

No need to worry, fans of The Mandalorian as there would just be more projects to come for the fan-favorite duo. The future of The Mandalorian remains bright as not only will it have a movie but in a report from Deadline, The Mandalorian & Grogu will not overlap with the fourth season of the series nor would it be the replacement. Thus, The Mandalorian Season 4 is still happening as the same report reveals that a new set of episodes are still undergoing development. According to the report, they said "It's not yet been confirmed whether [Pedro] Pascal will reprise his role as the Mandalorian for the new film. At present, a fourth season of his hit series is also in development."
The Mandalorian series has recently veered away from the journey of Din Djarin and now Din Grogu as it recently introduced the chosen one to rule Mandalore in the end of Season 3 where Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze was confirmed to be the Mand'alor who would lead the people of Mandalore. Season 3 also witnessed the departure of Din Djarin and Din Grogu where they take new tasks and Grogu can now levitate all the frogs that he could levitate. This could be the reason for having two different titles as the movie could focus on the titular characters while Bo-Katan could be the center of Season 4. So far, there remains no confirmation on what the movie nor Season 4 would be about.
The Mandalorian & Grogu and The Mandalorian Season 4 have no release date yet. The first three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney Plus.
