True to Lucasfilm’s promise, something big has come the Star Wars fans’ way today. After unveiling Star Wars: The Acolyte’s teaser poster and release date on Disney+ yesterday, the studio has dropped the official trailer for one of its most anticipated series this year. This trailer takes viewers on a journey into the hunt for a Jedi killer, introducing Lee Jung-jae as the Jedi Master Sol and other intriguing characters. In addition, Lucasfilm has shared a new visual, hinting at the dawn of a new era for the franchise.
You can see the trailer below:
The Acolyte trailer begins with young Jedis in training. “Close your eyes,” Sol tells them, doing as he bids. “Your eyes can deceive you.” He also reminds the kids not to “trust” what they see. From there, a variety of different images begin to play out, with Mae (Amandla Stenberg) making her way to a cantina, where Master Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) sits before an intense battle between the two begins. “Someone is killing Jedi,” Yord (Charlie Barnett) reveals. “It doesn’t make sense.”
As Sol finally confronts Mae, a voice whispering about sensing the darkness echoes in the background. The preview also offers a glimpse of the characters fans are about to meet, like Qimir (Manny Jacinto), Vernestra “Vern” Rwoh (Rebecca Henderson), and Mother Aniseya (Joe Turner-Smith), among others. Aniseya proclaims that the conflict isn’t about good or bad and stresses it’s all about power and who wields it. Jekci (Dafnee Keen) then appears, sensing a presence, when an unidentified assailant hurls a red-bladed lightsaber, sparking a monumental clash between the forces of good and evil.
In addition, Lucasfilm has also unveiled a new key visual for The Acolyte. The poster features a hooded figure on a rocky landscape as the sun sets in the distance. By the looks of it, the mysterious individual is Mae.
