After the release of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3, it looks like another series from the franchise will soon follow. Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to hit the small screen in the summer of this year, and after just more than a week following the revelation of its release window, it now has a tentative release date of June 5, 2024, on Disney+.
According to Collider, The Acolyte is scheduled to premiere on the said date. So, as nothing is set in stone yet, this is still bound to change. When asked for comments, the Disney representatives neither denied nor confirmed the reported release date. True to the franchise’s fashion, major details about the show remain scarce.
Anyhow, there are theories that it may finally tell the story of the Sith after mostly focusing on the Jedi. Allegedly, it will put the Sith Order at the fore, explore the dark side of the Force, and how it manages to infiltrate the light side.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told Collider that the studio was also intrigued by this part of the Sith. So, if this plan to go beyond the story of the Jedi works, it might kickstart the exploration of this untouched tale of the franchise.
"We actually were intrigued with that because if that show works, then it really gives us an opportunity to expand on that," she said. "And that's what's so great about television because it gives us sort of this larger playground for experimenting."
