The galaxy far, far away continues to flourish into expanding its horizons even more with new stories of details in between the beloved titles of the franchise as it heads into the brighter future of the narrative. With the upcoming shows arriving on Disney+, things are about to get more exciting as Star Wars: The Acolyte secures a promising update. What makes this special is that while the first season is not yet out on the streamer, the news is about the second season already.

Star Wars: The Acolyte has gone a long way to get to where it currently is right now. First planned in 2019, the series recently finished its production in June 2023, just in time before the SAG-AFTRA strike started which means that the show may still be on track eyeing for a 2024 release. Just as the show is still on time, word about Season 2 is now circulating and it continues to get more and more exciting.

In a report from Deadline, Star Wars: The Acolyte may have been planed to get multiple seasons ever since it was conceived. While the reason on how this report has been confirmed may not be good news as it involves Lucasfilm being sued, the lawsuit brought by Karyn McCarthy enlightened some fans that The Acolyte may be getting a second season soon after the first one arrives on Disney+. The March 7 filing by Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP states that the series is, indeed, planned to have multiple seasons as per item #17 of the plaintiff's allegations:

On April 7, 2022, the showrunner/ director of The Acolyte offered McCarthy the position of executive producer of The Acolyte and McCarthy accepted. McCarthy accepted Lucasfilm's offer in part because Lucasfilm had assured her that the story arc of the show, as well as the company's business plans, called for The Acolyte to run for multiple seasons.

The Acolyte has been in a good track in Star Wars with things going in its direction. Recently, the official WGA website confirmed who wrote each of the episodes of the series with Leslye Headland, showrunner, in charge of the premiere. The following are the writers for the succeeding episodes: Jason Micallef and Charmaine DeGrate for Episode 2, Jasmyne Flournoy and Eileen Shim for Episode 3, Claire Kiechel and Kor Adana for Episode 4, Kor Adana and Cameron Squires for Episode 5, Jason Micallef and Jocelyn Bioh for Episode 6, DeGrate, Flournoy, and Jen Richards for Episode 7, and Jason Micallef for the finale. It remains unknown who among them would be back to pen Season 2.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is one of the most highly anticipated shows in the franchise which will bring the High Republic into the spotlight. The unexplored portion of the story of Star Wars could bring in various new characters and locations to fill up the gaps between the movies of the franchise. While there is Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Mandalorian, the characters there are already known to the public and are already fan-favorites.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is a breath of fresh air in the story of the galaxy far, far away as it brings something new to the table: new faces, new characters, new stories to tell, and more. One of the rumored appearances in the show will be Darth Revan which the fans are calling in for Keanu Reeves to be cast. Currently, Reeves is slated for a cameo appearance in the series. While The Acolyte is not a reboot, it is a clear expansion of the ever-growing franchise of the Star Wars.
