Although the final episode of Ahsoka brought us hope as Ezra Bridger finally escaped Peridea and reunited with Hera Syndulla, it also delivered some sad news as Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Huyang were left in a different galaxy. However, that doesn't mean that Ahsoka's story is finally over. Star Wars just confirmed that the Jedi has a new mission, and it could be explored in the show's second season.
In Ahsoka Episode 8, Ahsoka and Sabine worked together to defeat Morgan Elsbeth and the Night Troopers. Unfortunately, they were too late to hitch a ride with Grand Admiral Thrawn back to their own universe and the finale concluded with the two settling down with the Noti tribe as Anakin Skywalker's Force ghost watched over them.
So does this mean Ahsoka and Sabine are stuck in this strange new galaxy forever? Interestingly, the official Star Wars website confirmed that the Jedi are exactly where they need to be.
"The convor Morai and the Force spirit of Anakin Skywalker both appear to give Ahsoka Tano signs that she’s exactly where she is supposed to be," the site wrote.
This isn't a new thought considering that Ahsoka says the same thing herself in the episode. However, the website puts her thoughts in writing, suggesting that Ahsoka needs to accomplish something on Peridea. Although it is not immediately revealed what she needs to do, several theories suggest that it might be connected to Baylan Skoll's personal quest on the planet and a possible escape to join Ezra and Hera in the battle against Thrawn.
Has Ahsoka Been Renewed for Season 2?
These are all promising thoughts but it's important to remember that Lucasfilm and Disney have not yet renewed Ahsoka for a second season. On the other hand, the delay might be attributed to the recently concluded WGA strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike which is currently in negotiations. Fans strongly believe that the companies are waiting for the results of the negotiations before making an official announcement.
Although the series has not yet been officially renewed, there is hope as Deadline previously reported that the second season is "more of a reality in the conversation, though nothing is locked yet." Perhaps the only thing that is holding back the renewal is an update from the strikes and there is a good chance that the show will be renewed before the end of the year. For now, Ahsoka Season 2 has not yet been confirmed. In the meantime, fans can watch all eight episodes of the first season on Disney+.
