Cameron Monaghan is going from video game to video game development. The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor actor has officially been cast in the planned Tron: Legacy sequel. Monaghan will be joining Tron: Ares which already confirmed Jared Leto and Evan Peters.
It's no secret that a third Tron film was announced back in 2010 but the project found itself in development hell due to Tron: Legacy's poor box office performance and repeated delays in production. Nevertheless, the sequel is moving forward and already adding new cast members.
The latest actor to join Tron: Ares is Cameron Monaghan. Deadline reports that the Gotham star has been cast in an undisclosed role but is expected to play a huge part in the project. Monaghan will join Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith and Greta Lee.
Monaghan is certainly on a roll with his latest project. He is best known for providing the voice and motion capture performance for Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its 2023 sequel. Monaghan is also noted for his dynamic performances as Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska in Gotham. With that in mind, we already know that Monaghan is capable of truly amazing things and we're expecting more of that in his new movie.
Tron: Ares has been in development since late 2010. Garth Davis was initially attached to direct the movie but has left the project as of January 2023. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil director Joachim Rønning has since been tapped to helm the sequel.
Tron: Ares will follow Jared Leto's computer program known as Ares on a journey to leave the digital world and become one with humanity. The roles of the other actors have yet to be revealed. However, there is a huge chance we could be getting new updates on the film in the next few weeks.
