One of the most incredible things about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was the surprise cameo from Donald Glover, who played a live-action version of Aaron Davis. But which universe was the live-action Prowler from in the first place? The recently-shared concept art featuring the character confirms what fans have already suspected while watching the animated sequel.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales is taken to the Spider Society headquarters where he sees several villains who have been captured for leaving their own universe to wreak havoc on another. One of the villains happens to be a live-action variant of Miles' own uncle Aaron Davis who had taken the Prowler mantle.

Needless to say, it was a great reference to Spider-Man: Homecoming which featured Donald Glover as Aaron Davis who even mentions his nephew in the movie. Still, the appearance led to more questions. For instance, was Glover playing the exact same character in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?

The answer is finally here. Comic book artist and Across the Spider-Verse contributor Kristafer Anka shared the concept art for Donald Glover's Aaron Davis in his suit and it is labeled "MCU Prowler."

This pretty much confirms that 1, Glover's character in Homecoming found a suit and became the Prowler and 2, the Spider Society is well aware of everything that has been happening in Earth-199999 or Earth-616, depending on who you are talking to.

We love the idea of Glover's Prowler being labeled as the MCU Variant of the villain since it means we could see more of the character in the future. With that in mind, we're hoping to see more Prowlers in the sequel.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is still screening in selected theaters. The third film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is currently scheduled for cinematic release on March 29, 2024.
