Secret Invasion Becomes The Lowest-Rated Series in Marvel Cinematic Universe History

Secret Invasion receives low critics and final episode scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

Secret Invasion finale might have ended with a bang, but the critics’ reviews are saying otherwise. The show has become the lowest-rated Marvel series on Disney+ so far on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the only “Rotten” series in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history.

Secret Invasion’s finale episode, Home, received a rating of only 13%, making the overall season 57% “rotten” on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. However, there’s one record the show didn’t break, the lowest-rated audience score, which She-Hulk: Attorney at Law broke after it aired last year.

Secret Invasion Becoming MCU’s Only ‘Rotten’ Series

Secret Invasion has featured several shocking twists and turns, but its finale seems a letdown. The show received mixed opinions from fans and critics alike, ending the series by breaking three unwanted MCU Rotten Tomatoes records: the critics’ score, the final episode score, and being a Rotten MCU series.

Based on the Tomatometer, representing the percentage of the critics’ positive reviews, Secret Invasion’s 57% critic score is below Ms. Marvel’s 98%, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s 84%, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s 77%. However, it’s still higher than Iron Fist’s 37% and Inhumans’ 11%, though they were still produced by the now-defunct Marvel Television and not Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios.

The show was also criticized for failing to be “Marvel for adults” despite its darker and more mature tone. However, it received praise for featuring Samuel L. Jackson in the lead as Nick Fury, who has been in the MCU for over a decade since the first Iron Man movie in 2008.

The One Negative Rotten Tomato Record Secret Invasion Didn’t Break

Thankfully, Secret Invasion has one negative Rotten Tomato record that it didn’t break, the lowest-rated audience, which She-Hulk: Attorney at Law received. She-Hulk got a disappointing 32% audience rating, a far cry from Secret Invasion’s 62%.

The low score might have something to do with She Hulk's negative reviews even before it premiered. The show even got a 77%-critic rating, seemingly proving that the review bomb might have something to do with it.

There have not been any words if Secret Invasion will have a second season, as Marvel Studios hasn’t announced a season renewal yet, but with these bashing reviews, it's unlikely.

All episodes of Secret Invasion are available to stream on Disney+.
