The treasure hunt continues, and there will be no interruptions this time. After the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes finally ended, following reaching resolutions with AMPTP, several TV series and movie productions resumed, including Outer Banks Season 4. The fan-favorite Pogues have reportedly resumed filming and were in Wilmington, North Carolina, to film a couple of scenes.

According to Star News Online, Katie Ryan, recreation program supervisor with the town of Wrightsville Beach, had filed the permits to shoot some scenes for Outer Banks Season 4 on the beach’s south end. The location would be near the Oceanic restaurant and Mosonboro Island and was scheduled for November 20 and 21. The permits even detailed the scenes that would be made: two people would jump from the pier and “individuals finding a body on the beach.”

Kimmie Stewart Casting even confirmed the production. In a post on Facebook, the casting agency was looking for numerous extras who could be beachgoers, bar patrons, school kids, and a female police deputy who could commit to the said two dates.

So far, since the writers and actors’ strikes ended, Outer Banks was the only show that started its production in Wilmington. The show filed permits for filming in Wrightsville Beach and New Hanover County in June but backed down after the actors' strike began in July.

Previously, the show’s cameras started rolling for the fourth season in June despite the ongoing writers’ strike. However, when the SAG-AFTRA began to hold its own strike in July, TV and movie productions were at a standstill as no actor could participate in any filming.

What to expect from Outer Banks Season 4?

Before the third season's release, Netflix officially renewed Outer Banks for a fourth season in early February. After the Pogues found the Royal Merchant, the Cross of Santo Domingo, and El Dorado in the previous season, a new treasure hunt is about to begin. This time, they will be after the treasure of Blackbeard, aka Edward Teach.

“It’s cool that they’re tying the treasure hunt back into history rooted in North Carolina,” Madison Bailey told Tudum after the third season finale. “It was a whole segment of our history class in eighth grade that we just were learning about pirates, and Blackbeard was a big deal.”

Alternatively, John Pate, the show’s co-creator, told The Hollywood Reporter that the Blackbeard is part of Outer Banks’ lore, and there are a lot of stories they could make out of it. However, it won’t be the traditional Blackbeard tale that viewers are used to seeing, though there will still be a touch of mythology.

However, fans should take this assumption with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed yet. What is important is viewers will once again see the Pogues back on the small screen on a new treasure-hunting adventure.
