Fans aren’t the only ones celebrating Netflix’s renewal of One Piece for a second season. Of course, even the show’s cast members celebrate the news, especially the lead star, Iñaki Godoy. The Mexican actor takes to Instagram to show how he commemorates the coming of One Piece Season 2 and seems happy every inch.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga of the same name, the series has seen huge success after its release on August 31. Aside from topping Netflix’s Top 10 TV shows for several weeks now, it has also received a series renewal a couple of weeks after its premiere date. And to celebrate this feat, Godoy seemingly shares his reaction to it on social media.
On his Instagram Stories, as captured by The Direct, the 20-year-old, who plays the titular role of Luffy, is seen apparently celebrating the announcement of One Piece Season 2 alongside his dog, Nicolás. And to make the vibes happier, he even added Kool & the Gang’s hit song Celebration to the story. Though Godoy didn’t mention the show or the renewal, his post comes timely after the live-action series was renewed.
In another post on his Stories, The Imperfects star shared a glimpse of his 80-day journey across the Caribbean aboard a vessel. “On the search for adventure and memories, I started my journey,” he wrote. However, as he captioned it with “new adventures in the horizon,” many believed it alludes to One Piece Season 2. One follower even said he was trying to find “One Piece” in real life.
What will happen in One Piece Season 2?
There’s a high chance that One Piece Season 2 may follow the manga/anime’s story just like it did with the first season, though a few twists may be added. The Straw Hats will continue their journey to the Grand Line, but conflicts may arise when they meet the criminal syndicate Baroque Works as they try to conquer the Arabasta Kingdom.
They may face the Marine captain, Smoker, in Loguetow, as teased by the end-credit scene in the first season finale. They will also be seen befriending a giant whale, meeting two giants, and having a new crew member with Tony Tony Chopper. For starters, Oda-sensei teased this cute character’s arrival while announcing One Piece Season 2, saying the Straw Hats would need a doctor in their group.
So far, there are no words on when One Piece Season 2 will be out yet. With the ongoing writers’ strikes, it may take a while before the new season’s production begins. So, hopefully, a resolution will be finally reached soon.
