Many probably know by now that Netflix has renewed One Piece for a second season two weeks after its release, proving the success and fame the series has achieved. Eiichiro Oda, the main brain behind this long-running series, has announced the season renewal in a special message and teased the arrival of a major character. But aside from this “doctor,” who else are the new characters coming in One Piece Season 2?

In a much-awaited announcement, Oda-san revealed One Piece Season 2 is coming after receiving some “great news” about the series. That said, after a successful first season, the adventure of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Nami (Emily Rudd), Zoro (Mackenyu), Sanji (Taz Skylar), and Usopp (Jacob Romero) to the Grand Line continues. As a new season begins, new characters will be joining the Straw Hat crew, and they can be allies, enemies or both

The mangaka has already confirmed the arrival of Tony Tony Chopper after revealing that Mugiwara will need a “great doctor.” He then started to draw the image of the reindeer-human hybrid. But aside from him, there are several theories about who fans will see next.

Who will be Luffy’s new allies in One Piece Season 2?

Warning: Major manga spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.

With the number of characters One Piece has introduced in its over 25-year run, many wonder who may come in One Piece Season 2. But considering the live-action adaptation follows the story of Oda’s manga, fans probably know who will show up, and one of them is Nico Robin.

Despite being Crocodile’s partner for a while, Robin has left the villain to join Luffy and his crew. He’s only one of the two people in the world who can read Poneglyphs, an ancient script, making him an important part of the series.

Next is Ace, Luffy’s sworn brother and another major character in the franchise. He’s the son of the famous Pirate King, Gold Roger, and has an incredible bond with the captain. The new season may also introduce Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon, aka “The World’s Worst Criminal.” Though he only stays in the background, he may appear in One Piece Season 2 as part of Luffy’s life.

Vivi may also be seen in the next season. As Arabasta Kingdom’s princess and a part of the crime syndicate Baroque Works, she will spy for the group after joining the Straw Hats. In addition, with Chopper’s arrival, his adoptive mother, Dr. Kureha, may also make an appearance and become Luffy’s ally.

Elsewhere, first introduced as an enemy, Tashigi teams up with Straw Hats to face a common foe. As a part of the Marines, who played a major role in the first season, her introduction may not be a surprise. Last is Crocus, a skilled doctor who becomes the pirates’ friend, teaching them several important things before entering the Grand Line.

Who will be the antagonists in One Piece Season 2?

Of course, if Luffy and the gang have new friends in One Piece Season 2, there will also be antagonists, and there will be many of them. To top it off is Crocodile. As the president of Baroque Works, a group expected to be the second season’s main enemy, under the codename Mr. O, he may bring danger to Straw Hats’ lives in the new season.

Fans may also meet Wapol, the former Drum Kingdom’s king, who fights Luffy and his group, probably becoming one of the earlier villains they must face in One Piece Season 2. Next is Daz Bonez, codenamed Mr. 1, a bounty hunter who’s also a Baroque Works member. With his work for the syndicate and Crocodile, he can be one of the secondary antagonists.

The show may also feature another Baroque Works member, Bon Clay. However, his character has significantly developed in the manga/anime after being friends with Luffy and saving him several times.
