Monkey D. Luffy is one of the most iconic characters in anime so taking on the role in a live-action project is a huge responsibility. Luckily for Iñaki Godoy, he has the support of just about every major figure involved with One Piece. Godoy recently visited the Shueisha office in Japan and the publisher's editor-in-chief gave him the best compliment any actor could ever receive.

When Iñaki Godoy was first cast as Luffy in Netflix's One Piece live-action series, people had mixed reactions. However, the casting was supported by creator Eiichiro Oda so fans began loosening up to the idea. Once the show's trailer was unveiled, everyone was convinced that Godoy was the perfect choice to play the Straw Hats Captain.

Not surprisingly, Godoy has been embracing his new role completely. In a new video shared by the One Piece Netflix X (formerly Twitter) account, the young actor is shown visiting the manga's publisher Shueisha in Japan. Godoy was given a tour of the office which is filled with awesome anime merchandise and he got to meet editor-in-chief Hiroyuki Nakano who was clearly impressed with the actor.

Godoy expresses his admiration and gratitude to the editor for bringing One Piece to the world and giving him the chance to play Luffy in the Netflix show. In response, Nakano tells the actor, "You are the real Luffy." Moved by the compliment, Godoy thanks the editor and gives him a grateful hug.

It is a remarkable interaction and proof that Godoy has all the support he needs to take on a truly important role. With Oda and Nakano backing him up, the actor is set for an amazing journey later this month.
