The cast members of the One Piece live-action series have been providing some truly wholesome content since they were reunited last month and it looks like they have more to offer this July. Iñaki Godoy, the newcomer who has been cast as Monkey D. Luffy in the Netflix show, just got to meet the legendary voice actor who portrays the pirate in the anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's iconic manga.

Godoy, along with the rest of the Straw Hats Pirates, recently attended Anime Expo 2023 where it was announced that the original voice cast of One Piece will provide the Japanese dubbing for the live-action series. The announcement gave Godoy the opportunity to meet Mayumi Tanaka, who played Luffy in the anime for several years.

It's truly a wholesome encounter as Godoy enthusiastically calls Tanaka "Luffy" and thanks her for bringing the character to life all these years. In turn, Tanaka expressed her excitement for Godoy's casting and admitted she is eager to reprise her role in a new medium.

We're loving the enthusiasm and support that each actor is providing and it certainly confirms that they are both the perfect actor to play Luffy in the Netflix show. With that in mind, we can't wait to meet Luffy when he makes his international live-action debut in August.

One Piece will also feature Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Gibson Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The original cast of the anime will return as their respective characters for the Japanese dubbing of the series. This includes Kazuya Nakai as Zoro, Akemi Okamura as Nami, Kappei Yamaguchi as Usopp, and Hiroaki Hirata as Sanji.

The first season of the One Piece live-action series will consist of eight episodes. It is currently scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 31, 2023.
