Netflix has brought Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece to an all-new height after the success of its live-action adaptation of the long-running series. As the show seems to break the curse of the streamer’s live-action adaptation of big anime titles, showrunner Steven Maeda expresses his interest in doing Spy x Family next.

Like One Piece, Tatsuyo Endo’s Spy x Family has become one of the best-selling manga with its great storytelling, artwork, and humor. So far, it has been adapted into an anime, a movie, and a musical. So, as the franchise is now making its way to being one of the best, is there a chance that it will also have a live-action adaptation?

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Maeda revealed he had been chasing Spy x Family for a while now after confessing his love for the series and praising it as “wonderful.” The TV producer continued that there are a lot of wonderful stories when it comes to adapting anime into live-action. However, he admitted that it’s difficult to get the crossover.

“[Anime] is such wonderful source material,” he said. “There are so many great manga and anime titles out there that tell these wonderful stories, and they just haven't been tapped yet.”

But despite that, Maeda claimed that not every manga or anime deserves a live-action However, he cannot deny that it will be nice to see some of them make it on the big screen, played by real people, just like One Piece.

Will there be a live-action of Spy x Family?

There are no words yet if there will be a live-action adaptation of Spy x Family. No film studio has expressed interest in adapting the story of the Forger family yet. However, with its success, it may not be far from happening. Who knows, Maeda’s interview may ignite Netflix’s interest in adapting Endo’s series after One Piece.
