Toss a coin to your ... Straw Hat Pirate? Netflix's One Piece live-action series has just announced members of its creative team including the composers and songwriters. Amazingly, the team includes the creative duo behind the viral hit Toss a Coin to Your Witcher from the first season of The Witcher.
It's hard to deny that Toss a Coin to Your Witcher was a catchy tune. The song, performed by Joey Batey as Jaskier in The Witcher, became a viral hit for composers Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli. Now, the duo are bringing their magical musical touch to Netflix's next high-profile series adaptation.
Screen Rant has confirmed that Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli will serve as composers and songwriters for the One Piece live-action show. They are expected to produce new songs as well as underscore the exciting scenes in the upcoming Netflix series.
Belousova and Ostinelli shared a joint statement about their involvement in One Piece.
"We’re thrilled to have been invited by Netflix, Matt Owens, Steve Maeda, and Tomorrow Studios to become part of the Straw Hats crew and craft the One Piece live-action music universe by serving as composers, songwriters, and music producers for the live-action adaptation of the beloved manga," they said.
"We have plenty of surprises in store for fans of the franchise and new fans. It will be an incredible adventure with songs and virtuosic flamenco guitar, hip-hop and big band jazz funk fusion, folk and circus, rap and a big epic swashbuckling orchestra, featuring extraordinary artists. We’re so excited to set sail for One Piece when it premieres on Netflix August 31!" they continued.
This is awesome news since we already know that Belousova and Ostinelli are fully capable of creating infectious tunes. Their involvement in One Piece guarantees that the episodes of the first season will never be boring and we can't wait what they will do for the action sequences.
One Piece will star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The first season will consist of eight episodes which are set to begin streaming on Netflix on August 31, 2023.
