Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender trailer begins by showing the danger the Fire Nation brings as the monarchy embarks on the dark path. To recover from this attack, the world needs the Avatar, and Aang finally emerges from the stones. The preview then reveals the respective fights of Princess Azula and Prince Zuko while Katara tells Sokka how the world will badly need Aang if it gets the chance to survive.

From there, Aang starts to master the elements, seeing him hit a statue as he practices using the air element. “There goes the savior of the world,” Sokka says. Prince Zuko tells Uncle Iroh that he has been looking for hints of the Avatar, calling it his destiny. But amid the Fire Nation’s threat, Aang starts to doubt himself, thinking he can’t stop them and doesn’t want to carry this big responsibility. With the fear that he has to do it alone, Sokka assures that he has him, his sister, Katara, and the flying ball of fur, Appa, by his side.

What is Avatar: The Last Airbender about?

Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the story of Aang, known as the Avatar and the last living Airbender. He is the bridge between the mortal and the spirit worlds and the only person who can bend all four elements. Aang is the only one who can maintain the world’s balance and bring peace. With these abilities, he’s set to end the Fire Nation’s ambition to conquer the world. With the help of Sokka and Katara, he’s about to master the four elements while being pursued by Prince Zuko, who wants to regain his honor as the Fire Nation’s crown prince by capturing him.

You can read the synopsis below:

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang, a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar. Alongside his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai. But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task. They’ll need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.

The live-action is based on the animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio. It was first announced in September 2018, with Albert Kim as the showrunner.
