Netflix has stunned everyone with the release of the official trailer of its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. As it gets lauded by many for its incredible cinematography and true-to-the-series character adaptation, one particular person can’t help but react to the preview. Jessie Flowers, aka Michaela Jill Murphy, who voiced Toph Beifong in the original Nickelodeon animated series, shared her reaction to the new series' trailer and even made a video for it.

In the clip, Flowers revealed that she had been waiting to see the trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender to do a reaction video and even donned Toph’s iconic headband to “get into the spirit.” As the trailer begins, the 29-year-old gets excited to see some of the most familiar characters, like Sokka and Katara. And just like others, she was stunned by it, admitting it made her a little emotional.

“This is a little surprising. It was expecting to be excited,” she said. “But I actually have a lot of feelings.”

Flowers then commended the firebending for looking great compared to the previous live-action adaptations. She also praised the series’ musical score, explaining that hearing it redone was definitely boosting. Thinking that the new series would be released in three months also made her so excited.

Who is Jessie Flower?

Born as Michael Jill Murphy, she’s famously known in the business as Jessie Flower. As a voice actress, one of the most famous roles she has played so far is Toph Beifong, a blind earthbending prodigy with a telekinetic ability to manipulate, reshape, and control stone, sand, dirt, and metal.

Flower voiced Toph for three seasons on Nickelodeon, from 2005 to 2008. Aside from Avatar: The Last Airbender, she was also part of The Fortuneteller as Meng and Random! Cartoons as Peggy in the episode Tiffany. She also joined the anime world as Nasse in Platinum End and made several films, like Meet the Robinsons, Over the Hedge, The Ant Bully, Finding Nemo, and Brother Bear 2.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released on February 22, 2024. With the success of the live-action One Piece, it’s a must-see if Avatar can also make it big on the streamer. But with the trailer’s positive response, it may meet the fans’ expectations.
