International fans will soon see Deku and the rest of the Class 1-A heroes fight against the new villain, Dark Might, in My Hero Academia: You’re Next. After its release in Japan in August, Bones and Toho International are gearing up for its premiere in North American theaters. As part of that preparation, its English dub cast and poster have been revealed.
As shared on the movie’s X page, Christopher Sabat will play Dark Might alongside Mauricio Ortiz-Segura (Kaiju No. 8, Solo Leveling) as Giulio Gandini and Kayli Mills (The Seven Deadly Sins, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) as Anna Scervino. The three will join the returning English cast members Justin Briner as Deku, Clifford Chapin as Bakugo, David Matranga as Shoto, and Luci Christian as Ochaco.
Sabat, Ortiz-Segura, and Gandini will play the new characters introduced to the franchise. Dark Might, a doppelganger of All Might, presents himself as someone who will replace the former No. 1 Pro Hero and become the new Symbol. However, his intentions are far more different than those of the Symbol of Peace. He aims to use his Quirk for his own evil desires, creating a gigantic fortress that will swallow the city and the population.
As for Guillo, he’s the Scervino family butler. Despite being calm and collected, he has a mysterious side, where his real violent character hides. Guillo pursues Anna but is also trying to kill her. International fans will soon learn his true desire and personality when the anime movie is released.
Lastly, Anna belongs to the wealthy family of Scervino. She possesses a special Quirk that catches Dark Might’s attention. As Dark Might and his evil followers end up kidnapping her, her once cheerful character and closeness with Guillo are about to change.
My Hero Academia: You’re Next International Poster is a “Gift to the Fans”
Meanwhile, the international poster for My Hero Academia: You’re Next features Deku, Todoroki, and Bakugo against a silhouette of Dark Might. Specially designed by Bones animator Yoshihiko Umakoshi, the studio’s CEO Masahiko Minami said it’s “a gift to the fans.”
“Because we wanted to make sure that the visual resonated with fans in North America while staying true to the MHA franchise, we worked closely with our local partners going through several rounds of feedback,” he said in a statement via IGN. “Focusing on just the movie-original villain, Dark Might, along with Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki, might seem like a minimal selection of characters in a way.”
Minami believed they made a wonderful design with the key art, emphasizing Dark Might’s mysterious personality. Adding the three heroes’ dynamics made a great impact that caught viewers’ interest.
