Anime has gone a long way today. From being featured in several streaming giants to breaking into the international scene, a known anime title has recently been a part of McDonald’s promo. The Devil Is a Part-Timer! was included in the titles the fast-food chain had honored with a special meal. And fans aren’t the only ones who celebrated this feat, as the anime illustrator Oniku was even “so surprised” by the collaboration.
The Devil is a Part-Time is a Japanese light novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by Oniku. ASCII Media Works publishes the series in Japan, while Yen Press releases it in North America. Akio Hiiragi illustrated its manga adaptation, while its anime adaptation was produced by White Fox for the first season and animated by 3Hz for the second season.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Oniku couldn’t help but gush about the series’ appearance in the McDonald’s commercial. He couldn’t even believe his eyes when he received an email about the collaboration, especially since the anime would be in line with some of the most famous international titles, like The Office, Seinfeld, and Loki Season 2.
"When the person in charge contacted me about the collaboration, I was so surprised that I read the email three times...," he wrote, as translated into English. "It's too mysterious that I was able to participate in the big titles of foreign movies I've been watching since I was a child, but I had a good dream. … Eat Mac!!"

McDonald’s started a promo that referenced its history in Hollywood and beyond. The diner has been featured several times in movies, TV shows, and music videos. It has also become part of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! as MgRonald’s, where the protagonist Sadao Maou works and is prominently seen throughout the series.
McDonald’s launched the As Featured In meal on August 14. It was a limited-time meal made available in over 100 countries and included never-before-seen content, custom merch, and exclusive experiences. The As Featured In meal will only be available until supplies last.
