Marvel Unveils Zodiac Spy-Thriller Series With a Logo Hiding SHIELD Secrets

Brad Winderbaum is keeping Zodiac mostly secret, but the new logo hides a piece of the old S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia.

Marvel Television isn't done with the small screen after all. At New York Comic Con on Thursday, the studio unveiled Zodiac, a brand-new live-action spy-thriller series headed to Disney+ in 2028 — and the logo alone has fans buzzing.

Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, Animation, and comics, revealed the project during Marvel's NYCC panel, confirming that the series will start shooting in London this spring with casting set to begin within the next couple of weeks. Plot details remain tightly guarded, but Winderbaum teased that comic readers should study the new logo closely: "If you're a fan of the comics, there's a lot hidden in that logo. That's all you're getting. It's supposed to be a secret."

The secrecy hasn't stopped fans from decoding the biggest clue. The "A" in the Zodiac title treatment incorporates the eagle emblem from the SHIELD insignia — a visual hint, seemingly intentional, that Marvel's iconic spy organization could sit at the center of the story. If so, Zodiac would mark SHIELD's first real return to the spotlight since Agents of SHIELD ended its seven-season run, and a chance to rehabilitate the MCU's spy-thriller credentials after Secret Invasion landed with a thud.

The name itself carries comics history. In Marvel Comics, Zodiac has referred to several things: a cartel of astrology-themed supervillains seeking world domination, and a mysterious villain operating during the Dark Reign era. None of those incarnations were framed as spy thrillers, which suggests the show may be doing something new with the name — or hiding its true subject behind it.

The timing is also notable. Zodiac lands the year after Avengers: Secret Wars, the film expected to reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A spy-thriller series launching in the aftermath of that event could play a key role in establishing whatever the MCU looks like on the other side — particularly if it involves rebuilding or reimagining SHIELD for a new era.

Zodiac is the first new Marvel Television project announced since a rocky stretch for the division. The studio canceled the previously renewed Wonder Man and confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again will end with its upcoming third season, leaving the TV slate looking thin beyond VisionQuest (premiering October 14) and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 (January 2027). The title had circulated as a working name since late September, when news of the Daredevil decision broke — now it's official.

"We start shooting in London this spring," Winderbaum told the NYCC crowd (via EW). "Comes out in 2028 on Disney+. I'm sure there's going to be lots of spoilers because we're going to start casting it in the next couple of weeks, and it is amazing."
