Insomniac Games and PlayStation recently revealed that the much-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game has officially gone gold. For those of you who don’t know, when a game is said to have gone gold, it means that it has finished its development and is ready to launch. Initially announced in 2021, Spider-Man 2's road to launch seems pretty long, mainly because PlayStation chose to keep the Insomniac Games project under wraps.
Insomniac confirmed the news of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 completing its development on their official X account. This means that the video game can start being printed onto discs and shipped all over the world. While sharing this news, the developers also shared a video featuring a wide range of cast members from the game celebrating the epic occasion.
Several actresses and actors appeared in the video, including Tony Todd, Yuri Lowenthal, as well as Nadji Jeter, and shared how excited they were that fans finally get to play the game on PlayStation 5. At the end of the video, a message from Insomniac appears, which reads, "Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has officially gone gold! We're thrilled to share this milestone achievement with our studio and collaborators at PlayStation and Marvel Games, and with our incredible community around the world. We can't wait for you to experience what we've been cooking up on October 20th!"
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Plot
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 serves as a sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, which was initially released on PS4. This time, Insomniac Games has planned on adding a wide range of iconic villains, including Mysterio, Kraven, and Venom, along with multiple improved gameplay features. In addition, Miles Morales will also be the co-lead in the game. Most of Spider-Man 2’s narrative will focus on Peter Parker and his fights against the alien symbiote, which takes control of his body and changes his entire nature.
