Behind closed doors and beyond what awesomeness everybody witnesses on the small screens are fiascos of the production to bring to the audience the quality of each episode aired. Recently, MAPPA has faced criticisms from their very own animators as the studio reportedly subjects them to harsh working conditions which, as much as possible and hopefully, would not translate into Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. From Episode 18's delayed release on streaming platforms around 18 hours after it comes out on air, MAPPA just made the decision to make this delay the new permanent schedule for the beloved anime series.
Last week, a last minute change in schedule was announced by MAPPA for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 18 that while the show would be out on TV as per the usual time last Thursday at 11:56 p.m. JST, the episode would be coming out on streaming platforms at around 18 hours later at 6 p.m. JST the next day. Now, it seems that this change will now be permanent as MAPPA announced on X via @animejujutsu that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 19 and the rest after such will follow the same schedule as that of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 18. The post did not indicate if the international streaming schedule would be affected and would also face this permanent change as it only indicated that the change will be for Japanese streaming. Still, the recent changes in schedule are telling that something is going on behind the scenes inside MAPPA.
What allegations are MAPPA facing from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 animators?
Recently, the animators behind Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 broke their silence on the alleged inhumane work schedules that MAPPA had subjected them to just so they could reach the release time of each episode of the series. Despite their calls to just delay the release of the episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 so as not to undergo such tedious work schedule, their plea remained unheeded until recent delays being faced by the show. There was also an allegation that MAPPA was stalling the payments of their animators which did not help the situation as regards the issue on their work schedule. MAPPA has yet to comment on the issue.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 19 is scheduled on Crunchyroll and other streaming platforms on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 6 PM JST / 7 AM ET / 6 AM CT / 4 AM PT.
