There is little doubt that Loki and Mobius proved that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has given us some of the most unexpected pair-ups that somehow work perfectly. Amazingly, the God of Mischief and the TVA agent just had the right chemistry to keep viewers entertained throughout two seasons of Loki. Sadly, it has all come to an end and Loki Season 2 writer Eric Martin confirmed that a reunion simply isn't possible.
In Loki Season 2 Episode 6, Loki finally controlled his time-slipping abilities and attempted to use it to fix the Temporal Loom and save the TVA. But after He Who Remains confirmed that the Loom is a fail-safe that only protects the Sacred Timeline, Loki decided to reconnect with Mobius and Sylvie to help him decide on his next action.
In Mobius' case, Loki went back to their first meeting and somehow learned his friend's backstory. Additionally, the conversation explored the complexities of sacrifice and sadly, the exchange turned out to be the final one for the duo played by Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. Writer Eric Martin told Marvel.com that Loki and Mobius' last moment was extraordinary to film.
"It's a special thing, because Tom and Owen, they have a real connection on screen," he said. "That chemistry is there. It's there in person. They work so well together. I think it's touching for everybody on set because you're just feeling a little bit of magic. It's the last magic that everybody will see."
It's an unfortunate confirmation considering that Loki and Mobius worked so well together. On the other hand, it opens up more possibilities for the characters in the future. For instance, fans believe that Mobius will be back despite the fact that he has left the TVA.
Could Owen Wilson Return as Mobius in the MCU?
Mobius was first introduced in the first season of Loki and Owen Wilson's performance as the character immediately endeared the TVA agent to MCU fans. Although Mobius' future in the MCU has not yet been officially announced, people are hoping that Wilson will be brought back, albeit without his good friend Loki.

So is it possible that Mobius will be returning a lot sooner than expected? Reports have suggested that Deadpool 3 actor Matthew Macfayden is actually playing TVA character Paradox (the original version of Loki's General Dox played by Katie Dickie). Moreover, it is believed that Miss Minutes will play an important role in the upcoming MCU sequel, opening up the possibility of the TVA having to deal with the Merc with the Mouth. Wilson's involvement in the project has not yet been announced, but people are keeping their fingers crossed on Mobius' future return.
Loki has not yet been renewed for a third season. However, fans can rewatch the first two seasons of the MCU series, which is now streaming on Disney+.
