Cinematographer Isaac Bauman shed light on the challenges faced while shooting Mobius' final scene in the Loki Season 2 finale. Despite the emotional significance of Mobius' departure from the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the scene almost caused a major issue due to its daytime exterior setting. Initially hesitant about the challenge, Bauman ultimately embraced the directors' vision and worked diligently with his team to ensure the scene was executed flawlessly.
In a new interview with Screen Rant, Bauman revealed that they initially struggled with Mobius' final scene, leading him to push back against the directors. However, they managed to execute Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's vision for the moment.
"We really worked with it on the day. Although that shot of him looking straight-on at the house with the sky behind him, that was totally lit, the sun wasn't hitting his face, that's an HMI through diffusion, which I almost never do," Bauman said. "I take pride on never lighting anything outside, but in this case, we really had to — you needed that sunlight on his face there, right? Aside from that shot, every other shot is natural sunlight, totally natural, raw, no diffusion, nothing bouncing around, aside from that front-on close-up of Mobius with the blue sky, every single shot totally au natural."

In the Loki Season 2 finale, Mobius, portrayed by Owen Wilson, chose to retire from the TVA, leaving Wunmi Mosaku's B-15 to lead the organization in monitoring various Kang variants. Mobius' character arc throughout the season was marked by a desire to protect the only home he knew within the TVA, offering a unique perspective amid other agents seeking to reclaim their lives on the timeline.
The final scene encapsulates Mobius' journey, showcasing his newfound agency and ability to chart his own path. The ambiguity surrounding his future, whether a return to the TVA or encountering his Variant, adds depth to his character's development.
Could Mobius return to the MCU?
While the conclusion of Loki Season 2 Episode 6 saw Mobius leaving the TVA, speculation abounds about his potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed Owen Wilson's return, fans believe Mobius' story is far from over, anticipating his continued significance in the MCU.
