Loki Season 2 is clearly one of the most anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe shows right now but could it also be the most expensive one? A new report reveals that Marvel Studios allocated a huge budget for the second season of the God of Mischief's series. It's so huge that it's even bigger than what was spent to make 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy!

Back in 2021, Loki turned out to be such a huge hit that people were already anticipating a second season even before it concluded. Luckily, Marvel Studios immediately renewed the series for Season 2 and amazingly, the studio is tossing in the big bucks for the God of Mischief's return.

According to Forbes, it was reportedly revealed that Disney spent $143 million for the budget of Loki Season 2. It might seem a lot smaller than, say, the effects-laden Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it is still considerably bigger than previous MCU flicks like Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy.

So does this make Loki Season 2 the most expensive series in the MCU? That's hardly the case since Secret Invasion reportedly had a budget of $212 million. Still, the second season of Loki is still pretty high up there, budget-wise.

What Happens in Loki Season 2?

The premise of Loki Season 2 is still somehow a mystery but the trailer already gave us an idea of what the God of Mischief's present problem is. As Loki and Mobius meet with new character OB, it is revealed that Loki is "timeskeeping", something that OB claims is impossible to happen in the TVA. Could the glitch have something to do with Sylvie sending him back to the wrong TVA? We'll find out more in October.
