Tara Strong just lost a new role after her social presence seemingly revealed her stance on the Israeli-Palestine conflict. The Loki star, who provides the voice of Miss Minutes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, actually learned that she was removed from Boxtown through social media. In response, Strong expressed her disbelief over her unexpected firing.
The official X account of the animated feature Boxtown confirmed the news, explaining that Tara Strong would no longer provide the voice of Billy the Orphan. The account also announced that they will be holding auditions for the role soon.
Not surprisingly, netizens immediately reacted to the post, pointing out that Strong was removed from the project because she had previously posted about the Israeli-Palestine conflict. Soon, Strong reacted to the news, revealing that she only learned about her removal from the series on social media.
"This is what happens when you help fans get shows made I guess. Fired for being Jewish. Glad I helped you get your Kickstarter money. Please lose my email address & pray for my family in Israel and in Gaza & #prayforpeace," Strong wrote.
Since then, the Boxtown crew has repeatedly defended Strong's removal from the series. Spencer Rothbell, who serves as co-writer on the show, pointed out that Strong's firing had nothing to do with her being Jewish.
"The other main character is voiced by a Jewish person (Alex Hirsch), the co-writer of the pilot (me) is a Jew too…try again!" Rothbell wrote.
