Matt Smith might be joining another major franchise very soon. The House of the Dragon star is reportedly in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe's highly anticipated Fantastic 4 reboot. Moreover, Smith is expected to take on the lead role of Mister Fantastic!
The casting of Mister Fantastic is a big deal for the MCU. After all, the character is set to be an important character in the Fantastic 4 reboot and we have already seen John Krasinski take on the role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, several reports suggest that Krasinski will not return as Reed Richards in the reboot.
So who will play the MCU's new Mister Fantastic? Streamer Entertainment revealed that they had previously reached out to Matt Smith's representatives and that they insisted that "As of June 28th 2023, [Smith] was not cast as Reed Richards in the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR film." However, a more recent tweet indicates that something may have changed in the past month (via The Direct).

"We again reached out today and, instead of a confirmation or flat out denial as was previously made, we were told, 'No comment,' on whether Matt Smith was cast in the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR movie," the outlet wrote.
It's an interesting revelation that could mean that Smith is currently in negotiations to play Mister Fantastic in the reboot. After all, the representatives could simply repeat their previous statement if there hasn't been any development since June. The new response is intriguing and fans are already considering the idea of Smith joining Fantastic 4.
For now, it has not yet been confirmed that Smith will play Reed Richards in the Fantastic 4 reboot. With that in mind, it's best to take this with a grain of salt. In the meantime, Smith is set to return as Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon Season 2 which is still in production amidst the writers' and actors' strikes.
