The Dance of the Dragons will not be stopped by any strike. House of the Dragon Season 2 will continue filming amidst the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike. The second season of the Game of Thrones prequel series had also been unaffected by the WGA writers' strike earlier this year.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Still Unaffected By Actors' Strike
The 2023 Writers Guild of America strike started back in May 2023 and it was only the beginning of the ongoing labor dispute. It was immediately followed by the SAG-AFTRA actor's strike which meant that both writers and actors are now fighting for their rights. Not surprisingly, several productions have been affected by the strikes but House of the Dragon is still moving forward.

Variety confirms that House of the Dragon Season 2 will continue production amidst the actors' strike. This is because most of the actors working on the show are from the UK and their contracts are with the Equity Union. It was confirmed that although Equity supports SAG-AFTRA, its actors cannot strike due to UK law.
"A performer joining the strike (or refusing to cross a picket line) in the UK will have no protection against being dismissed or sued for breach of contract by the producer or the engager," Equity said in a statement.
"Likewise, if Equity encourages anyone to join the strike or not cross a picket line, Equity itself will be acting unlawfully and hence liable for damages or an injunction," the statement adds.
Why Was House of the Dragon Season 2 Not Affected By Writers' Strike?
House of the Dragon Season 2 was also unaffected by the WGA writers' strike because of its early preparations. It was confirmed that all of the scripts for the second season have already been completed prior to the strike and the new episodes could be filmed without delay.
The second season of House of the Dragon will depict the start of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war that pit Rhaenyra Targaryen against her own half-siblings for the claim of the Iron Throne. For now, Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date.
