The previous live-action adaptations of the MCU’s Fantastic Four might not have had a splendid record of audience reception, but when Marvel Studios announced that a new reboot was in the works, fans remained hopeful that it would be the redemption arc of Marvel’s first family.
As of now, story details and casting are being kept under wraps, but this wouldn’t stop the fans from speculating and building up rumors about which actors would be in the new lineup to play the superhero team as they go back to the big screen.
Some of the rumored stars have already previously commented on the speculation. Now, another frontrunner for the role of The Invisible Woman, aka Sue Storm, has also broken her silence about joining the Fantastic Four ensemble.
Statement from The Crown Star, Vanesa Kirby, about the role of Sue Storm
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Vanessa Kirby addressed the rumors as a potential star in playing MCU's Sue Storm. She gave a vague but optimistic comment, “It would be an honor,” said Kirby.
Kirby gained popularity after playing Princess Margaret for two seasons in the Netflix historical drama The Crown (2016-), receiving a BAFTA Award for her effective portrayal of the royal family member. She then earned more universal critical acclaim after leading the 2020 film Pieces of a Woman as a grief-stricken mother.
The award-winning actress continuously proves herself in Hollywood as she stars in more major projects over the years. Now, Kirby is currently doing press for Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, where she reprises her role as Alanna Mitsopolis, aka White Widow, opposite Tom Cruise.
Who is Sue Storm, and which stars are rumored to play her?
Sue Storm is the only female member of the Fantastic Four team and a founding member of the group. She gained her powers after exposure to a cosmic storm, receiving the superhero name The Invisible Woman, formerly known as The Invisible Girl. The character was created in the Silver Age of Marvel comics and was the first heroine of that era.
Sue Storm was played by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara in past Fantastic Four movies. Now the rumored contenders for portraying the character in the upcoming 2025 film include Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), Lily James (Pam & Tommy), Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), Emma Stone (La La Land), and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
Now, nothing has been confirmed, and fans can only hope that it will be worth all the fuzz and waiting as the Fantastic Four arrives in theaters on February 14, 2025.
