After the first season ended with a major cliffhanger, Netflix officially announced Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 to continue the story of Jang Tae-sang and Yoon Chae-ok. And to give fans a glimpse of the major change that’s about to happen, the streamer has released an announcement teaser featuring a modern-day Park Seo-joon. It also drops new stills showing the return of Han So-hee.

Captioned “A new beginning,” the Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 preview starts with news clips of the events that happened in South Korea. As the scene zooms out from the TV, a man with a scar on his nape appears, and as he opens the window, he’s revealed to be a guy who exactly looks like Jang Tae-sang named Ho-jae. Ho-jae was also seen in the post-credit scene of the first season.

Alternatively, the new season’s stills feature Ho-jae inside what looks like the vault room of Tae-sang’s House of Golden Treasure pawnshop. So-hee is also seen wearing a much-modernized outfit, though she seems to be in a fight again while she sits on the ground bloodied. For the last still, So-hee and Seo-joon come face to face on the streets amid the snowfall.

What to Expect from Gyeongseong Creature Season 2?

Warning: Major spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.

From the dark times of Spring 1945 and telling the story of an entrepreneur and a sleuth who have to face a monster to save Gyeongseong and survive, Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 will continue the story in modern times. The show will feature a major time jump to 2024 in Seoul, where Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee) returns. By the looks of it, she has survived the attack of Lady Maeda’s (Claudia Kim) people and her mom, Seishin, after the latter has saved her and comes back to life after the parasite comes out from the creature’s body and enters her mouth.

The new season will also tell the story of Ho-jae (Park Seo-joon). With his uncanny resemblance to Tae-sang, a huge scar on his nape, and a photo at the House of Golden Treasure, his connection to the wealthiest man in Gyeongseong is expected to be revealed.

You can read the synopsis below:

Set in the dark times of Spring 1945, Season 1 of Gyeongseong Creature told the story of an entrepreneur and a sleuth who must fight for survival and face a monster born out of human greed. In Season 2, the unfinished story continues in Seoul of 2024 where Yoon Chae-ok, who survives the spring of Gyeongseong, meets Hojae, who resembles Jang Tae-sang.

Who are the cast members of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2?

So far, Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee are the only confirmed returning cast members of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2. In August 2023, SPOTV News (via Soompi) reported that Bae Hyun-sung would join the new season in a major role. The actor’s agency, Awesome ENT, confirmed his appearance in the show’s second installment, though it hasn’t confirmed his role yet.

“It is true that he will appear in Season 2 of Gyeongseong Creature,” it said. “We ask for your understanding as we cannot further disclose his role and any additional details about his appearance.”

Naver (translated by Soompi) also confirmed The Glory’s Lee Moo-saeng’s appearance in Gyeongseong Creature Season 2. However, his role is also yet to be revealed.

Talking about the second season, Seo-joon asked fans to watch out for their return to see how Tae-sang and Chae-ok’s stories would be told this time. On the other hand, So-hee teased viewers need to see if the Ongseong Hospital is really destroyed and how Chae-ok has changed through time.

In addition, director Jeong Dong-yoon revealed that Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 would focus on Tae-sang and Chae-ok’s “fate and future.” He also teased that it would feature a “completely different charm.” “Because space and time have changed, I think it will be expressed with clear differentiation. The worldview will expand further,” he explained.
