It looks like the Star Wars Universe had a truly strange project that ended up being scrapped. However, the details behind the mystery film or show were truly intriguing. Writer David S. Goyer confirmed that he was supposed to work on an untitled project with Guillermo del Toro who then dropped a mysterious tease about what they were planning.

David S. Goyer was a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast where he dropped a jaw-dropping bombshell. According to the writer, he was already tasked with working on the script for a Star Wars project that would be directed by Guillermo del Toro. In fact, Goyer may have been working on multiple projects sometime in 2019.

"I wrote an unproduced Star Wars movie that Guillermo del Toro was going to direct," he said. "It was about four years ago. I also wrote a ‘scriptment’ for an origins of the Jedi story… that took place 25,000 years before the first Star Wars film."

The revelation is already curious on its own but del Toro decided to make it even stranger. The filmmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal more details about his unfinished Star Wars project.

"True. Can't say much. Maybe two letters ‘J’ and BB.’ Is that three letters?" he wrote.

Naturally, people were immediately curious about the tease. At some point, Star Wars fans theorized that del Toro was supposed to work on a film about Jabba the Hutt which would fit perfectly in the filmmaker's repertoire.

Although we love the idea of a Jabba movie, Lucasfilm and Disney decided not to move forward with the project and it was ultimately scrapped. Still, we're hoping to learn more about what del Toro was planning to do with the film. We'll be keeping an eye on his X account in case he shares more details.
