Ahsoka's Adorable New Creatures Prove George Lucas' Infamous Star Wars Quote

Ahsoka Episode 6 proved that there are adorable creatures in every galaxy

Ahsoka Episode 6 gave fans the most highly anticipated reunion since the Star Wars series was announced but it also introduced a lot of acceptable distractions along the way. For instance, viewers immediately fell in love with the local critters of Peridea and that certainly makes sense. After all, it's part of a formula that George Lucas confirmed in an underrated quote about the original film trilogy.

In Ahsoka Episode 6, Sabine Wren finally meets Grand Admiral Thrawn who has been living on the planet Peridea all this time. Thrawn allows her to leave in search of Ezra Bridger and she is provided with a quadrupedal creature known as a Howler to serve as her ride. Although the horse-like rat animal appears ferocious, it is later revealed to have the same temperament as a loyal puppy.

Both Sabine and the Howler eventually meet the native Noti creatures, a hermit crab-like species that had adopted Ezra into their tribe. Both creatures are natives of Peridea and although they are not ideally cute like the Porgs or the Ewoks, they kind of grow on you with their endearing nature.

The introduction of these animals is not exactly something new in the Star Wars Universe. George Lucas famously spoke about making an adorable addition to the franchise back when he discussed the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. In a 1983 interview with Rolling Stone, Lucas declared how the films should work (via Slashfilm).

"Dare to be cute. The worst we could do is get criticized for it," he said. It certainly makes a lot of sense considering that Star Wars has actively added unusual yet adorable aliens throughout the years.

The best example of Lucas' quote by far would be Grogu, who stole the show in The Mandalorian. Although the new critters in Ahsoka Episode 6 are unlikely to have the same impact as the Child, there's a good chance we'll see similar creatures in the franchise in the future.
