Rockstar Games recently announced that the team known as Cfx.re has officially become a part of the game development company. Cfx.re is a team that creates tools, helping developers bring about enhanced experiences to their games. This is also the team behind Rockstar Games’ biggest creator and roleplay communities, i.e., FiveM and RedM.

Cfx.re helped develop some modding tools for two of Rockstar's most popular games, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, allowing many players to take part in a more immersive roleplaying experience. Eight years after the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC, FiveM still hosts some of the biggest GTA RP servers and entertains countless players.

On their official website, Rockstar Games said, “Over the past few years, we've watched with excitement as Rockstar’s creative community have found new ways to expand the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, particularly through the creation of dedicated roleplay servers.” The developers further claimed that they recently expanded their policy on mods so that they could officially include the efforts made by the roleplay creative community.

Fans’ Reaction To The Exciting News

This news from Rockstar Games has shocked many fans, considering how rocky the developer’s relationship has been with modders in the past. Sometime in 2015, the developers banned the team that was responsible for the FiveM mod and called the project “an unauthorized alternate multiplayer service that contains code designed to facilitate piracy.”

The mod’s founder later accused Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, of sending private investigators to their house in order to scare and intimidate them into putting an end to the project. Nevertheless, this exciting news was announced before the release of GTA 6, so fans might see some online roleplaying features in the upcoming highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto game. Rockstar Games also announced the exciting news on their Twitter account, which you can see below:

On the other hand, Cfx.re refuses to say anything about GTA 6 and told fans in a statement to “not ask us about the next GTA!” Fans’ excitement was further fueled after hearing this epic news, with many going over to their Twitter page to comment on the news. One GTA fan commented, “ROCKSTAR ACTUALLY WORKING WITH MODDERS INSTEAD OF TAKING THEM DOWN, IT'S A NEW ERA.”

Another fan said, “This is actually crazy what the heck? Role play in gta 6 online maybe? That would be sick,” with a third fan joining in, “Damn, the sandbox just got bigger. Congrats! Never thought I would see the day that the core developer and modders would bridge the gap like this.” We can’t wait to explore the exciting roleplay features in GTA 6!

GTA 6 Possible Release Window Hinted by Take-Two Interactive

Unfortunately, the release date for GTA 6 hasn’t been released, but Take-Two might have just hinted at a 2024 release window. Furthermore, if leaks are to be trusted, then players might see some changes in the game’s police, and GTA 6 might also introduce the right and left-hand swap feature. However, none of these leaks have been confirmed yet, so take them with a grain of salt.
