House of the Dragon Season 2 has already been confirmed to continue production despite all the strikes. However, that doesn't mean things are going smoothly for the Game of Thrones prequel. George R.R. Martin has just shared a shocking update regarding his involvement with the HBO series.
George R.R. Martin continues to share updates on his work on his blog and one of his most recent entries discusses the WGA writers' strike. In his post, Martin confirms that "the second season is half done." He also assured that filming would continue since most of the actors working on House of the Dragon Season 2 are members of the British Union Equity and are discouraged from going on a sympathy strike for their American counterparts.
"If they walk, they have no protection against being fired for breach of contract, or even sued," Martin wrote.

He then shared a jaw-dropping update on his involvement with HBO.
"As for me personally, my overall deal with HBO was suspended on June 1," Martin wrote.
This is truly unexpected news considering that Martin's deal with HBO is supposed to last until 2026. It certainly suggests that the A Song of Ice and Fire author will not be closely involved with the Game of Thrones spin-offs that are currently in development. However, there is still a chance that HBO will reconsider the suspension in the next few months.
In the meantime, Martin assures fans that he will remain busy. "I still have plenty to do, of course," he wrote before sharing his excitement for the stage play The Iron Throne. Martin also confirmed that he is still working on The Winds of Winter although he did not reveal the book's release date just yet.
House of the Dragon Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to air on HBO by 2024.
