Yesterday, Epic Games launched a new LEGO Fortnite update that added new vehicle builds to the free-to-play sandbox game. The announcement was pretty surprising one, as it not only added three vehicle builds for LEGO Fortnite players, but it also added new tools, additional LEGO versions of Fortnite skins, and more.
The announcement also came with a trailer that revealed LEGO versions of two Marvel skins that had not been officially revealed: Groot and Drax, the Destroyer. While Epic Games didn't mention anything about that reveal, leaker Hypex shared a much closer look at the actual Fortnite skins for Young Adult Groot, Drax, and their empathic teammate, Mantis. All three Marvel characters look faithful to their appearances in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 movie.

According to the leaker, the new Guardians of the Galaxy items will all be part of a bundle that must be purchased with regular money instead of V-Bucks. Players might remember that Fortnite has previously added a Groot skin, which could be acquired by unlocking it through a battle pass. While the return of Guardians of the Galaxy characters to the game probably comes as a fun surprise to most, there might be a reason for the new Marvel skins.
Earlier this year, Epic Games and Disney announced a new partnership that aims to further integrate Fortnite with popular Disney brands such as Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar. As part of the agreement, Disney invested $1.5 billion to acquire an equity stake in Epic Games. The games and entertainment universe that the two companies started working on could be playable from within the Fortnite launcher just like games such as Rocket Racing and LEGO Fortnite.
New Guardians of the Galaxy Emotes for Fortnite
In additon to the new Groot, Drax, and Mantis skins for Fortnite, gamers can also get Marvel-inspired emotes. The first emote is The Potted Groot Dance, which makes your in-game character dance like Baby Groot in the original Guardians of the Galaxy film, but it doesn't come with the Jackson 5's I Want You Back music. There's also the Zargnut Invisibility emote. While it doesn't actually make the player invisible, it just shows the character eating from a bag of zargnuts like what Drax did in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Players can expect more Marvel-related items in the upcoming Fortnite updates.
