After being announced at the New York Comic-Con in October 2023, Toei Animation again gave a glimpse of the new Dragon Ball anime series, Dragon Ball Daima. And for the first time, a character trailer focusing on the young Goku is revealed at the series’ special panel at DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2024 in Los Angeles. But aside from the little version of the world-famous Saiyan, the preview also gives a glimpse of the new enemies he’s about to face.
The new Dragon Ball Daima trailer features a young and enthusiastic Goku as he goes to another world, not knowing what danger awaits him. From there, a group of monsters takes the scene, seemingly waiting for the protagonist’s arrival and is ready to fight. As Goku is about to enjoy his meal, green and pink beasts approach him.
But never belittle this young Goku as he goes into full action, showing his incredible fighting skills by flipping and defeating his enemies while eating his burger. However, the fight doesn’t just stop there. Another bunch of villains have come Goku’s way, and just like the first time, he effortlessly beats them all down.
Meanwhile, the anime’s official website has also released new character illustrations by the series creator, Akira Toriyama himself. It shows the young Goku, Krillin, Mr. Satan, Android 18, Chichi, and Majin Buu. There’s also an image of the green, pink, and purple monsters, which may serve as the anime’s new villains.

What is Dragon Ball Daima about?
Dragon Ball Daima tells a brand-new story that is not part of Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Super manga. However, it’s still made by the mangaka himself and will see the young versions of Goku and his friends. The anime has released its new synopsis, revealing Toriyama's involvement, from the production to the plot and character designs.
You can read the synopsis below:
Though the new synopsis didn’t reveal much about the story of Dragon Ball Daima, Toriyama earlier revealed that Goku and his friends would return to their childhood due to a conspiracy. So, to return to their original forms, they must travel to a new world that will feature a great adventure, complete with intense action, in the unknown and mysterious place.

Dragon Ball is a media franchise created by Toriyama in 1984. The first manga came out in 1984 and collected 42 tankobon volumes with 519 individual chapters, ending in 1995. It was then adapted and divided into two anime, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, produced by Toei Animation and aired from 1986 to 1996. From there, the studio has produced 21 animated feature films, three TV specials, an anime sequel, Dragon Ball GT (1996-1997), and a midquel series, Dragon Ball Super (2015-2018).
A revised version of Dragon Ball Z, titled Dragon Ball Kai, was released from 2009 to 2015. With its fame and success, several companies have developed different merchandise, making it a huge franchise with films (animated and live-action), collectible trading card games, action figures, soundtrack collections, and numerous video games. Dragon Ball is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time and one of the most successful manga and anime series ever.
Dragon Ball Daima is set to be released in the Fall of 2024. Though it still takes a little while before fans see Goku’s return to the small screen, the anime is now hyping this major comeback.
