Dragon Ball Daima will feature a brand new story that's not based on the Dragon Ball Super manga series by franchise creator Akira Toriyama and artist Toyotarou, but the story still comes from the mind of Toriyama. When Dragon Ball Daima was officially announced at New York Comic-Con 2023 last October, shonen fans noticed that there are clear similarities to the previous series of the Z-Fighter franchise, Dragon Ball GT. The Grand Tour featured Goku transforming into a child, but the series was not considered canon to the shonen's official story. Now, it looks like Daima is bringing that idea and multiplying it by turning not just Goku but also his friends into their younger selves.

Dragon Ball Daima Synopsis

The official website of Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour revealed the new synopsis for Dragon Ball Daima, which reads:

Dragon Ball Daima is a new anime in which Akira Toriyama has been directly involved with the production of its brand-new story, including the plot and character designs. Also, it is being released for the 40th anniversary of the original Dragon Ball series, taking the fans' expectations to a whole new level.

The new synopsis doesn't reveal much about Daima's story, but Akira Toriayma previously shared what the brand new anime series will be about:

Mr. Iyoku will share behind-the-scenes tidbits about the making of the Dragon Ball Daima anime, which is scheduled for release in Fall 2024, as well as other exclusive info. New artwork by Akira Toriyama himself will also be displayed, so don't miss it!
