Fans have been quickly intrigued by the new Dragon Ball anime series, Dragon Ball Daima since it was announced at the 2023 New York Comic-Con. An original work of the series creator Akira Toriyama, the new anime is about to tell a new story about Goku and the Z-fighters as they return to their childhood due to a conspiracy. So, as it will feature a young Goku, many want to know if he can still transform into Super Saiyan.

With Dragon Ball Daima’s similarities to Dragon Ball GT, fans can’t help but compare the two anime. The latter also saw Goku transformed into a child. But though the new anime would see him as a kid again, his friends, like Vegeta, Krillin, Chi-Chi, Bulma, and Yamcha, would also return to their younger selves, showing a big difference between the two.

But as a young Goku managed to transform into a Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball GT, the big question is, could he do the same in Dragon Ball Daima? Though this will only be revealed if the new series finally releases, knowing it will take place after Kid Buu’s death and before Beerus and Whis make it to the planet Earth, there may be several Super Saiyan levels that can’t be seen here.

Due to the timeline, Goku can’t yet become Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue in Dragon Ball Daima. Goku only managed to become Super Saiyan Blue after training with Beerus and Whis’ on the former’s planet after Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods. It was Goku’s first time to be in the realm of godly ki after transforming into a Super Saiyan God. Also, there’s no way that Goku will achieve Ultra Instinct form in the new series, as Goku achieves this transformation during the Tournament of Power.

What is Dragon Ball Daima about?

Dragon Ball Daima will feature a brand-new story that is not part of Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Super manga. However, the mangaka is heavily involved in making this series, from its plot to its character designs, specially made to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary. It will see Goku and his friends return to their childhood. So, to return to their original forms, they must travel to a new world and start a new adventure to answer all their questions and have their normal lives back again.

Dragon Ball is a huge media franchise created by Toriyama in 1984. The first manga, written and illustrated by the creator himself, was first released in 1984 and ran until 1995. It collected 42 tankobon volumes and had over 160 million copies sold in Japan alone and 260 million worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga ever.

It was then adapted into two anime series, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball, by Toei Animation, released from 1986 to 1996. From there, it has developed 21 animated feature films, three TV specials, the anime sequel Dragon Ball GT (1996-1997), and the midquel series Dragon Ball Super (2015-2018). A revised version of Dragon Ball Z, called Dragon Ball Kai, was released from 2009 to 2015. As one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, it has various types of merchandise, like collectible trading card games, action figures, soundtrack collections, and numerous video games.
