What is Dorohedoro about?

The official synopsis of the Dorohedoro sequel is yet to be revealed. However, it’s known for being set in a near post-apocalyptic future across three realms: The Hole, the Sorcerers’ world, and Hell. The story begins when a group of sorcerers has been using people in The Hole as experiments for their black art. Nikaido then found Kaiman, a man with a head of a lizard and amnesia, in the dark alley.

To help him undo the spell, the two have been hunting and killing the sorcerers to find the right one. However, when En, the Sorcerer's head, learns of their activities, he sends his crew of “cleaners” to the Hole to start a war between the two worlds.

You can read the synopsis below:

In a city so dismal it's known only as "the Hole," a clan of Sorcerers has been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious "experiments" in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they're hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they'll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of "cleaners" into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.

The anime is based on the manga of the same name by Q Hayashida. It started its serialization in November 2000 and was published in three manga magazines: Monthly Ikki from November 2000 to September 2014, Hibanafrom from March 2015 to August 2017, and Monthly Shonen Sunday from November 2017 to September 2018. Its chapters were collected in 23 tankobon volumes. Viz Media published it in English in North America.

It was then adapted into anime by MAPPA with 12 episodes, broadcasting in Japan on Tokyo MX from January to March 2020. The anime was then streamed on Netflix in May 2020. The Dorohedoro sequel was announced on January 9.
