Deadpool & Wolverine has been rife with huge cameo rumors. After Karan Soni revealed that there would be several character appearances in the movie—though he didn’t name who—the latest in the rumor mill is that Henry Cavill will join Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the first Deadpool movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After being most famously known as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, it looks like The Witcher star is now making a big jump to the MCU—well, if this claim is true.

Giant Freakin Robot’s Henry Hards broke the news that Cavill would join Deadpool & Wolverine as the variant of the adamantium-clawed X-Men hero. Though Marvel Studios and Disney are yet to confirm this claim, he will allegedly be seen wearing a long brown coat when he makes his appearance in his first MCU movie.

This information about Cavill’s appearance is said to have come from the same source who first revealed that Linda Cardellini would voice Lylla the Otter in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which director James Gunn later confirmed, making it somehow relevant. Hards explained that they were prohibited from reporting details coming from unverified sources. But as their intel had already proven its credibility, this seemed to confirm that the British actor would indeed be a part of the threequel.

Update: Reliable insider CanWeGetToast recently confirmed Giant Freakin Robots' scoop on Henry Cavill being cast as a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The Rumors Surrounding Henry Cavill’s Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo

There have been speculations about Cavill’s possible cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. He initially expressed his interest to play Captain Britain in the MCU, which many believed he might portray in the movie. Back in 2021, he told The Hollywood Reporter that playing the champion of the British Isles and its people would be “fun to do,” and he intended to give it a “cool, modernized” take, just like the modern Captain America.

Though this may not happen in the third Deadpool film, there’s still a big possibility that he may show up in future MCU films, knowing the threequel will feature the multiverse. That said, this may be the only time that Cavill will play the role of Wolverine, and there’s still a chance for him to join the Marvel universe by portraying other characters. Some even say that he can be Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four, which, of course, remains to be seen.
